Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Real Madrid
Capacity: 81,044
League: La Liga
Opened: 1947
In my last post, I mentioned that I’d been to Madrid for a few days. While I was there it seemed like a pretty obvious thing that I had to visit the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. It’s incredibly impressive from the outside with its spirals. I had a quick look at the plans for this stadium and sadly it’s losing the spirals.
I found it surprising how in the centre of everything it is - it’s right by a busy road with heaps of restaurants and bars nearby. I love the height of this place - as you travel up to the top of the stadium you get the most amazing view.
Viewing the club from afar, Real Madrid has a very glossy put together feel but as soon as you enter that ground it feels so real and drenched in history.
