Bootham Crescent, York City
Capacity: 8,256 (3,409 seated)
League: National League North
Opened: 1932
As soon as I stepped into Bootham Crescent I was so excited to get started taking photos. The ground has such a special feeling with the mix of plastic and wooden seating, the hand painted row numbers and the little glimpses of houses behind the stands.
Bootham Crescent has an interesting history. During the Second World War, the Popular Stand was converted into an air-raid shelter and the ground was damaged after a bomb landed on nearby houses.
York City are expected to move grounds soon to a new 8,000 seat stadium with the Bootham Crescent ground being turned into housing. I’ll definitely miss this beautiful ground.
